William Wall

Photographer

William Wall was born on June 11, 1977, in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He graduated high school at Sydney Academy in 1996, and then again from University college of Cape Breton (UCCB) in 1997 with a Diploma in motor vehicle repair. He then moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to work as an apprentice mechanic for Goodyear.

Feeling his life was going nowhere fast he decided to make changes. With the help of his uncle, who happened to be a Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces, he began training and preparing himself for a career in the army.  He passed his training at the top of his course and was then posted to CFB Gagetown as an Infantryman.

Retired at the rank of Sergeant, with a total of 20 years in the forces with a number of combat tours to Afghanistan, he feels it is time for yet another big change.  Knowing his whole life that he has a particularly keen eye for photography he began to pursue his long awaited passion.

Wall is Presently in his second year of a Photography diploma course at NBCCD.  He took part in workshops and courses at UNB to broaden his skills in the subject, and had some of his photos published in the local papers in Fredericton and Oromocto.

His long term goals include retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces with a twenty year career, going into business for himself as a freelance photographer, and to build his own studio someday.
